Welcome to Grosvenor Rowing Club Chester!

Grosvenor Rowing Club is based in the historic city of Chester on one of the best stretches of river in the UK, the River Dee.  We opened our doors in 1869 and have not looked back since. Check out our history to see how the club has grown and how we became the club we are today.

Historically, the club has had close links with the Grosvenor family who, until the death of the 6th Duke of Westminster in 2016, provided the club's President since we were first formed. In recognition of this special relationship many of the boats used have been named after Grosvenor family members

The club's facilities include:

  • Comprehensive boat stock for different levels of rowing ability
  • Gymnasium including free weights area and 18 ergos
  • Club house with bar facilities and catering
  • Car parking

Membership prices vary depending on age and education status. Coxwains and coaches are entitled to free memberships (once appointed by the Club Captain).
