Grosvenor travelled to the picturesque setting of Shrewsbury Regatta on Saturday, where Pengwern Rowing Club held the annual Shrewsbury Regatta on the River Severn, in the shadow of Shrewsbury School and their impressive boathouse
Winning in 7 of the day’s categories Grosvenor Men & Women returned home with the medals to match their efforts.
The Women Masters double of Debbie Knight and Petra Ocenaskova won by a quarter of a length in a hard fought final against Bewdley, whilst the Men’s Eight of Adam Webster, Jez Perkins, George Moir, Mark Bancroft, Tim Dodd, Jonathan Bryning, Mark Tilston, and Ad Gideonse coxed by Bruce Belcher beat Pengwern on their home water.
Special mention should be made of Grosvenor’s junior double scull of Sascha Vranch and Gabbi Joyce, who came through a field of 8, over a four hour period, including Grange School, Trent, Monmouth Comp, Hereford Cathedral School and King’s School, Worcester to win their medals in an impressive fashion. Steve Walker won his singles race in a straight win over Burton Leander, whilst the Coxless Four of Mark Tilston, Jez Perkins Jonathan Bryning and Adam Webster picked up a second medal in an exciting final against Loughborough . Three of our junior squad were also successful when filling in seats of a novice eight that won in the morning division.
